[Elphel-support] elphel NC313L blank image

HI Andrey,
Thanks for your help with this issue. I am unable to recreate the black image I was getting earlier. The firmware version is 5.1.18 then it says \s \r on a \m (\l).
There are two dmesg readouts; one before the reflash, one after. i don’t know if it is normal, but when I reflashed the device, the lights were blinking for awhile until it finally stopped with the orange light on solid. The light would not turn off until I disconnected and reconnected the power.

Cheers,
Rick

Rick,

I'm sorry - I did not notice the question was about NC313L, not the NC353L.

Thee button does not do anything when the camera is booted, it only matters if you hold it while inserting the cable (and so providing power) - in that case camera goes to reflash mode. And sure all those links I gave you are only applicable to the NC353L.

Can you find out - what is the firmware version? You can find that it if you telnet to the camera (login:root, password:pass) and enter
cat /etc/issue

You may also run
dmesg
and copy the output, compress and attach to email

"Camera in use" - there were many ways how to get camera there - can you reboot the camera, get black image (not "camera in use") and look at it in any image-processing software - are all the pixels completely zeros?

My boss just gave me this camera to get working, he says it worked in the past and its behaviour has him stumped. With this camera (the NC313L) there doesn’t seem to be a parsedit.php page. I can open the 192.168.0.9/axis.html page. when I try to navigate to usr then local (http://192.168.0.9/admin-bin/editcgi.cgi?file=/usr/local ) I get the following error: 502 Bad Gateway: the CGI was not CGI/1.1 compliant. also, on the main page (192.168.0.9) there is no firmware link. when I first started to use the camera the screen was completely black, but now it seems to show “camera in use please try again” and I can’t get the result I had before. there is an orange light and a green light on the back of the camera. when I ping the address they both flash as they recieve the packets. There is also a button on the back. whether I press the button momentarily, or hold it continuously, the lights do not flash so I cannot tell if it is resetting the system

  Rick,

Is it that you never got any image from the camera or it stopped showing images?
Are all the image pixels values equal to 0 exactly or there is some noise?

You can turn the sensor built-in pattern instead of the image and see what will be output:
  1) Open http://192.168.0.9/parsedit.php (or whatever your camera IP is)
  2) Follow "Cable delay / sensor phase adjustment...." link
TESTSENSOR parameter will show new value of "0x10008" (test mode, when set to 0 - normal mode)
DAEMON_EN will be programmed to "0" - that will turn off autoexposure/white balance
You do not nee3d to change anything in SENSOR_PHASE value field
  3) Press "Apply button"

The image should have vertical color bars, darker at the top, brighter to the bottom.

You may also open the camera default page (i.e. http://192.168.0.9 )
  Select "Firmware"
and then "Status Report" - it will show dmesg output and other settings of the camera in the window and provide a link to the same data compressed - you may save it and send us to look at.

I am able to connect to the camera and have the user interface on scree, however the image in the preview is black. I have played with all the settings on the GUI and I have not been able to correct this problem. The video link work (ie opens video player), but the video is still black. has something gone wrong with the internal components? is there a firmware upgrade I could apply? and help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
