> PC's OS - ?

ok, lets me explain...

i have two computers. A netbook (samsung n150, atom) with linux mint
12 32 bits, ubuntu 10.10 32 bits, and with this computer i also use
the live usb.

The second one is an intel i7 with linux mint 12 64bits, ubuntu 12.04
32bits, (and till yesterday ubuntu 11.10)
When i try the live usb with this computer it works badly...
(resolution is 640x400 and window management gests crazy everytime...
making it unusable...

When i have tried to install the usb, it doenst seems to recognice the
password i entered during the instalation so i'm only working with the
live version.

I have tried mplayer with all of this OS and the results are similar.

With the liveusb in the atom netbook i believe the problem is that the
netbook seems not to be able to open high resolution streams, with
1920x1088 (128K) dont show any image, but i tried 640x480 (24k) and
the image is showed and even mantained for a long time (30-50 seconds)
But after that mplayer exits

The best results i had was in the i7 with ubuntu 12, mplayer (MPlayer
svn r34540 (Ubuntu) and 640x480 (24k) , the live preview was working
without stop (i stopped it)

when i setup 1280x720 (73k) and mplayer dont show the image...
i come back to 640x480 (27k) and the live preview works fine... this
is the only setup showing the live preview non stop...

with 800x600 (40k) the preview show the image for 2 seconds and then stops..
above this resolution the image is not showed (only one time each 10...

> Camera firmware - ?

Firmware Version: Elphel (R) Model 353 Camera release 8.1.2

> FPS = 24?

now i'm limitting fps to 25 (using instructions from wiki FPScontrol)

> Image dimensions and size - 1920x1088, 100-150KB?

> Mplayer version (let's stick to mplayer)?

MPlayer svn r34540 (Ubuntu) (in ubuntu 12, where i have the best
results for the moment)

> During that 5-10 sec of working the window with image opens, right? or it

> just crashes not showing anything?

when i say mplayer is working i mean it opens a window and the image
is showed. Then the window close and mplayer says:

 Exiting... (End of file)

> 2. Some things that you could try:
> Does mplayer act the same if you boot from our LiveUSB?

Yes, the response is similar but i need to run liveUSB correctly in
the i7 to test...

> Check the CPU usage on the camera - "top" or "ps" from the telnet session -
> could also you send us this info?

usually when i use telnet after mplayer exits, telnet didnt respond for a while.

it seems that with gstreamer when this happends, i need to restart the
camera, but with mplayer i dont need to restart the camera (yet)
