Adam,

Older sensors we used were 10 (not 12) bit, but they required 3.3V analog
power supply voltage. For them we used switching 3.3V->5.0V converter, then
linear regulator back to 3.3V. To reduce possible interference from the
switching dc-dc converter we synchronized it it to the sensor frames.
5MPix sensor uses lower power supply that can be linear regulated from
"dirty" 3.3V, so these 2 lines where used as extra data bits. When used in
323 and 363 cameras more control signal were reassigned to data bits so the
data bus in that case is 14 bit wide, using the same 10313 system boards in
the 323 camera and 10353 in the 363.
