Hi Nathan,

I think your problem is due to a circular buffer overrun. In the case of a buffer overrun camogm start a new file automatically.

Try to reduce image quality and see if the problem persist.

Objet: [Elphel-support] Corruption in QuickTime Files - strange FPS

Hi there everyone,

I've been troubleshooting this issue for a few days and have come to no fix. I think there is a serious problem.

We recently bought 2 elphel 353's and are experiencing some concerning issues with one of them.
When recording to HDD, we are getting constant corruption in the quicktime files.

The camera will record fine for a little while,
Splitting quicktimes correctly (every 1.1GB for example)
Then suddenly there will be a quicktime split, resulting in a much smaller file (say 300kb - 200mb for example)
The camera will continue recording to HDD correctly (splitting at 1.1BG)
and again at some stage the same thing will occur- a tiny split quicktime file...

This was confusing the hell out of me!

So, I opened one of the tiny split quicktimes in VLC and discovered there is some sort of corruption in there somewhere!
The framerate reports a large arbitrary number (say 1034.445fps)
If I close and reopen the file, it will report a different framerate (say 335.756fps)
in any case, the file is very broken

I imagine that the reason camogm is splitting the files is that it "thinks" the files have reached the max seconds- due to the corruption in the fps within the quicktime? I'm not sure.

This issue is only happening with one of the cameras- I have tested the HDD and it is not the problem...
Im a bit concerned it might be a hardware problem within the camera??
