[Elphel-support] Issue with PPA

Hi Oleg,

Yes, the directory "elphel353-8.1.0.5" is created, and "install_elphel" is inside. When I run the install_elphel script is when I see the error. I've attached the build.log

Thanks,

Diana

Hi Diana,

No, for password just hit "Enter" (it's empty for anonymous user download from SourceForge). After that you should have a "elphel353-8.1.0.5" folder on the same level with "install_elphel" inside, right?

Oleg

I tried to re-install , but I'm seeing the same error. When I run the elphel353_80_install_from_cvs.sh script

It's asking for a CVS password after it logs into :pserver:anonymous at elphel.cvs.sourceforge.net:2401/cvsroot/elphel<http://pserver:anonymous@elphel.cvs.sourceforge.net:2401/cvsroot/elphel>

Is there a specific password I need?

When I put in my normal root password, it says

cvs login: authorization failed: server elphel.cvs.sourceforge.net<http://elphel.cvs.sourceforge.net> rejected access to /cvsroot/elphel for user anonymous

Could this be causing me problems?

Diana

Could you try to reinstall cris-dist (if the failed manual installation was the last one then it might have cleaned everything without installing):

in the command line:
sudo apt-get purge cris-dist
sudo apt-get install cris-dist

If you feel more comfortable with a graphical user interface this can be done in the KPackageKit - launch it and find cris-dist.

Diana,

I changed wiki instructions them too less confusing.

The thing is after you do
sudo apt-get install cris-dist
the cris cross-compiler will be installed and you can proceed to "Build Elphel Software".

Oleg

Hi, Andrey,

Yes we are trying to develop software and compile our programs to run in the camera. I'm following the instructions in the document titled Elphel Software Kit for Ubuntu, found on the Wiki.

My next big tackle seems to be compiling gcc-cris.

I have sent the install-cris-tools_log to compiler-contact at axis.com<mailto:compiler-contact at axis.com>, but they have not responded. I seeing the following message:

**********buffer overflow detected**********: cris-axis-elf-ar terminiated

And then the program aborts with an Error 2.

If any of your experts have any ideas, please let know! I've attached the log.

Thanks again ,

Diana

Diana,

I'll ask our team members who dealt with launchpad to investigate this issue. Meanwhile - maybe I can help you to achieve your goal differently? (as I wrote earlier - launchpad is new for us, and I personally do not have much experience with it, used Sourceforge) What are you trying to do - install development software to compile you programs to run in the camera? Or something different?

Also - can you direct your technical questions to our mailing list? There are more people who can help there. You do not have to subscribe to the list, the first message will be delayed in the moderation queue until some of us add your email to the "white list", after that your messages will go through immediately.

Hello Diana,

Can you try again, please? We also had problems with the Launchpad about an hour ago. If the error persists - we'll try to fix it. We just recently started to distribute software through the Launchpad, used only Sourceforge before.
