David,

That test was intentional to make sure camera will nevert erase it's flash
without having access to the new data. SDRAM is smaller than flash so camera
can not buffer all data in SDRAM before erasing.

But you were able to bypass such test and trick the camera into erasing
flash without being able to get new files, so now you have only the boot
block intact (it's output you could see ) , the rest of the flash is just al
FF-s.

So now you'll have to do it "hard" way, using netboot. It is possible, of
course (and described on our wiki) - just try not to erase the bootblock too
- it has camera serial number, manufacturing date.time, ... (it is also
possible, of course - you can find evidence on this ML). That netboot mode
downloads temporary system, but you'll have to resolve file access problem
anyway - camera will still need them.
